Plot summary
Footage from the 1992 courtroom proceedings against Jeffrey Dahmer is joined by interviews connected to the case. The accounts trace the killings of 17 men and boys, most of them of African or Asian descent, committed between 1978 and 1991, with the greater share falling in the years 1987 to 1991. The murders involved rape, torture, dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism. Prosecutors brought 17 murder charges, a number later reduced to 15, and the authorities did not charge Dahmer over the attempted murder of Tracy Edwards. Dahmer entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, and the trial opened on January 30, 1992, running for two weeks.
