Plot summary
A house fire sends Sam, a teenage boy, and Nick, a man in his twenties, on a road trip through a remote part of America. Nick thinks the journey could be a second chance for him. At diners and rest stops the two introduce themselves as brothers named Nick and Jeremiah, saying they are on vacation. Sam has trouble telling his dreams apart from waking life, and Nick assures him that the distinction does not matter, since Sam can make his dreams real. Jealousy appears when other people spend time with Nick, hinting at a darker bond between the two males. The screenplay grew out of a 2011 short in which a man and a young boy make other people at a roadside motel suspicious.
