Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Split (1968)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Irwin Winkler first offered the lead in The Split to Steve McQueen, who was interested but chose to make Bullitt instead. Jim Brown, who had read the script and was enthusiastic about it, was then cast as McClain.
- Jim Brown's action double on the film was Calvin Brown, a founding member of the Black Stuntmen's Association. Before the 1960s, black actors were usually doubled by "painted down" white performers, until Bill Cosby refused such stuntmen on I Spy.
- The Split came out shortly after the MPAA rating system was introduced on November 1, 1968, making it one of the earliest titles to receive an R rating.
