Plot summary

Carmen tends to ignore her boyfriend Marcus, a photographer, in favor of her job, and the two have relationship problems. Her boss Dale refuses her pitch about tourists who disappear in a remote Polish village, so she goes anyway with Marcus and her intern Sara. Laura, whose son Eric Taylor is among the missing, lends them the journal he kept. In the village the residents are secretive, and a girl named Lidia will not answer their questions about Eric. A dense patch of fog hangs in one part of the forest and never moves; when the three move toward it, the villagers threaten them and order them out. Marcus wants to leave, but Carmen, who told Dale nothing about the trip, needs a story.
