Plot summary

Jonsy is a teenager who has never met her father. When Billy leaves prison, the two of them meet for the first time on the banks of the Mississippi, and they begin to build a relationship while they work on a boat called The River Rat. Billy has served his prison sentence but is innocent, and he cannot escape his criminal past. Doc Cole, the psychiatrist at the prison, believes that Billy knows where a large amount of money stolen before his imprisonment is hidden, and he blackmails him over it. The people who want that money are looking for it as well.
