Plot summary
An orphaned girl named Qingcheng steals a mantou from a boy and runs off, then meets the goddess Manshen, who offers her a life of wealth and unmatched beauty. The bargain is that she will never keep a man's love, and only impossible events, snow falling in spring among them, could undo it. She grows up as the King's concubine. General Guangming, who has just defeated a barbarian army with three thousand soldiers, races home to the Imperial City, where Duke Wuhuan has besieged the palace. Manshen tells Guangming that a man in his crimson armor will kill the King. Wounded by Wuhuan's henchman Snow Wolf, Guangming is saved by his slave Kunlun and sends him into the palace wearing that armor, to save the King.
