Cecilia Cheung

Biography

Cecilia Cheung is a Hong Kong actress and singer whose career began in 1998, when a lemon tea television commercial led Stephen Chow to notice her. Born in Hong Kong and later sent to Australia for school, she graduated from RMIT Holmes College. Chow gave her the part of a young nightclub hostess in King of Comedy (1999), her film debut, and she soon appeared in Fly Me to Polaris (1999), which brought her the Best Newcomer prize from the Hong Kong Film Awards. That same year she started singing with the Cantopop album Any Weather (1999). In Derek Yee's Lost in Time (2003), she played a single mother in grief who had trouble making ends meet, and she took the Best Actress honor at the 2004 Hong Kong Film Awards.
