Plot summary
Subuyan Ogata makes and sells stag films on the fringes of Osaka, keeping his trade away from the yakuza and the police, even as the authorities in the city move against pornography. He shares a cramped house with Haru Matsuda, a hairdresser, her son Kōichi, who wants to go to university, and her daughter Keiko, a teenager. Haru holds that the spirit of her first husband lives on in a carp. Subuyan also has a mistress, and he shoots as many as two films a day, regarding his work as a service rather than a crime. His attention keeps returning to Keiko.
