Plot summary
Antonia is a young mother in a village in the south of Spain. One night repression in the village drives her away, and her baby stays behind. Half a century afterward, in the north of the country, Carmen works as a casting director and keeps to herself. A political party has hired her to find an ordinary person who has recently arrived in the city for its campaign. Carmen wants people to tell her what it was like to arrive somewhere new. Her search brings her to Antonia, a saleswoman whose impulsive manner pushes into Carmen's solitude.
