Plot summary

At a remote Arctic base, over a hundred soldiers are struggling with psychological problems, low morale, and fading discipline after nearly a year of isolation. Since the army cannot grant leave to everyone, Lieutenant Vicki Loren proposes a lottery in which the men choose a perfect furlough and one soldier takes it while the rest live through him. They select a Paris vacation with Argentine film star Sandra Roca. Corporal Paul Hodges wins the draw and travels to France for three weeks. Since Hodges has a reputation for womanizing, the army worries he will disgrace it by pursuing Sandra. The army assigns Loren and two MPs named Sylvia and Hans to keep him under constant watch.
