Plot summary
After winning a karate tournament, Michael Rivers tells his daughter Bree he is done fighting. At the afterparty, promoter Ron Hall offers him a place in an underground Kumite in Bulgaria with a million-dollar purse, and Rivers refuses. He comes home to find Bree taken. Hall brings him to a house in Bulgaria alongside other fighters whose relatives are also held, among them Lea Martin and Damon Spears. Two men who demand their families back are killed as a warning, and Hall's champion Dracko threatens the rest before they are given weeks to train. An ex-fighter named Loren, who once refused Hall, agrees to coach Rivers and introduces him to Julie Jackson, Dracko's former sensei.
