Plot summary
On the night Grandpa Longneck recounts the creation of their universe and the tale of the Lone Dinosaur, the children hear of a legendary Longneck who fought a ferocious Sharptooth and was left with a scar across one eye. The tale says an earthquake raised a huge monolith afterward, and the dinosaurs named it Saurus Rock, believing that bad luck would come down on the Valley if anyone damaged it. Playing the next day, Littlefoot falls from a cliff and is saved by Doc, a mysterious Diplodocus scarred over one eye who knows the Valley's topography. Convinced that Doc is the Lone Dinosaur, Littlefoot shares his guess with his friends. Dinah and Dana, the infant niece and nephew of Cera, then set off for Saurus Rock without being noticed.
