Plot summary
Julian, Nola, Danny and Sam Lachance are siblings who share one home and have done so since their parents died several years ago. Julian fears growing up, Nola fears love and Danny fears needles. Sam, the youngest, fears nothing. Then a panic attack overtakes Sam as he heads home. It becomes a challenge the three older siblings set themselves: each of them has to overcome what frightens them, so that Sam can hold on to his fearlessness. They trace their difficulties back to their parents, and mostly to their absence, and to how the four of them live together and grow up without them.
