Plot summary

Between 1968 and 1973, members of the Jane Collective provided abortions to women in Chicago. The practice was a crime in most states during those years, and in Illinois even circulating information about it was a felony. The collective offered low-cost and free care, and its members put their personal and professional lives at risk to help women with unwanted pregnancies. Their work put them in conflict with the state legislature, the Catholic Church, and the Chicago Mob, which profited from abortion. The documentary draws on interviews with several members of the group, which performed roughly 11,000 abortions before Roe v. Wade.
