Plot summary
The Shark's Fin rises 4,000 feet on the northeast face of Meru Peak in the Indian Himalayas, a route that has turned back many famous climbers, among them Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Öztürk in 2008. The three return for a second attempt and record themselves as they climb, so the film draws on footage from both tries. Öztürk has five months to recover from a near-fatal accident before the second attempt, and Chin is caught in an avalanche four days after that accident and comes out of it unharmed. Anker is still carrying the ambition of his mentor, Terry Stump, and the memory of his climbing partner, Alex Lowe.
