Plot summary
Isla and Sandy are siblings who live alone on an Orkney isle. Thirty years ago their parents disappeared, and the two have kept going by hunting seabirds, telling the stories of their ancestors, and watching for the incomers they fear. Daniel is an awkward land recovery coordinator. His boss, Roz, has sent him with orders to move the siblings to the mainland, and his arrival upends their world. Isla also speaks with mythical creatures and sees visions of a Finman.
