The Great American Sex Scandal (1990) on Netflix

Plot summary

Sanford Lagelfost is a mild and meek accountant who faces charges of embezzling $3 million from Trout Industries. The jury selected to hear the case is a mixed group: a waiter named Eddie, Rita, who works as a call girl, a businessman called Phil, and Abby, a former hippie. When the prosecution's star witness, Hope Hathaway, takes the stand, she surprises the courtroom with stories of Sanford's romantic exploits. Her testimony turns the quiet defendant into a national celebrity, and his name appears in newspapers and gossip columns across the country. With the case now notorious, the judge sequesters the jury.
