Plot summary
Three Catholic priests share a rectory: Father Daniel, the youngest, Father Victor, who is devoted to the Church and prepares the church and its candles for mass himself, and Father Ollie, who enjoys food and follows Indiana University basketball. The three eat together, set the weekly schedule of baptisms and services, and talk over Scripture and the homilies they are preparing. One Friday night, a woman named Jane speaks with Daniel through the confessional. She says that music is her work and that she is dying. Over the weeks that follow the two become friends, and she invites him to hear her sing at her coffeehouse. Daniel seeks guidance from his fellow priests.
