Plot summary
Hiram Stokeley is recently dead, and his spirit has one day to perform a good deed if he hopes to be let into Heaven. His long-dead girlfriend Cecily helps him. Hiram's lawyer, Reginald Ripper, means to keep the Stokeley estate for himself, along with J. Sinister Hulk and Hulk's slow-witted associates Chicken Feather and Princess Yolanda. Ripper's daughter Sinistra joins his side. The real heirs are Hiram's cousin Myrtle and her son, and Chuck and Lili, who come to the mansion with beach party friends for a pool party. The biker Eric Von Zipper and his Malibu Rat Pack turn up as well, wanting a share of the estate and chasing after Yolanda.

- Aron Kincaid recalled that on his first day on the set a crew member fell off a catwalk, broke his neck and died, and that the producers left the blood stain on an Oriental carpet because they thought nobody would see it.
- AIP's James H. Nicholson and Samuel Z. Arkoff were unhappy with the original cut and ordered reshoots weeks after principal photography wrapped, adding a new plot about an old man who must do a good deed for eternal youth and a ghost in an invisible bikini.
- Buster Keaton was signed to reprise his role as a comic Indian but bowed out through illness, and the part was taken by Ben Rubin.
- Karloff filmed his scenes standing inside a bottomless coffin rather than sitting up in it, a necessity given his chronic back problems and a leg brace.
- Nicholson's wife Susan Hart, cast as the ghost, shot her scenes in a blonde wig and black velvet bathing suit against a black velvet backdrop.
- Avalon and Funicello had been announced as the stars, but neither appeared in the final film; it remains the only movie in the series not to feature either of them.
- Other veteran actors in the film were Francis X. Bushman, Basil Rathbone and Patsy Kelly; the movie was reportedly Bushman's 435th.
- The stunt of Eric Von Zipper crashing his motorcycle into a pond was used again in the first Billy Jack film, The Born Losers (1967), also produced by AIP.
