Plot summary
Wendy, Arbie's high school sweetheart, goes off to college without him, and a semester later he returns to the Tromahawk Native American burial ground where they had been together. It has been bulldozed and replaced by the American Chicken Bunker, a chain of military-themed fried chicken restaurants. Wendy is there too, protesting the new building with her girlfriend Micki. Arbie, out for revenge, applies for a job there; the manager, Denny, puts him to work with Paco Bell, Carl Jr. and a burqa-wearing fry cook named Humus. In the basement works a mysterious older man who has spent his life as the chain's costumed mascot.

- Troma never secured proper financing for the roughly $500,000 budget, so Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz paid out of their own pockets, and Kaufman and his wife Patricia Swinney Kaufman dipped into their personal retirement savings to get the film made.
- The crew were almost entirely unpaid volunteers recruited by producer Andy Deemer through Craigslist and horror message boards. Fangoria reported hundreds of applicants, with people traveling from Sweden, Germany and Australia, and composer Duggie Banas joined after answering an advertisement for someone willing to score a film for free.
- The fried chicken restaurant was an abandoned McDonald's in the Bailey-Kensington neighborhood of Buffalo, New York. Over 80 crew members and 300 unpaid extras worked on it, and more than 70 cast and crew lived in a nearby abandoned church Troma rented, which had one working bathroom between them.
- The contract for the McDonald's location explicitly banned nude scenes, so the crew decorated the basement of the abandoned church they were sleeping in to look like the restaurant and shot all the nudity down there. The church agreement carried no such clause.
SPOILER
The car flip in the film is not new footage. Troma shot that stunt in 1991 for Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., and Lloyd Kaufman has recycled the same shot for comic effect in every film he has directed since.
