Plot summary
Father Richard Lamont, a local priest, and a Vatican investigator look into the case of Anna Ecklund, a formerly gentle wife and mother. They want to learn whether an ancient evil has possessed her. Their examination leads them to conclude that the possession is genuine. The two men then try to take Anna to a convent, where they can perform an exorcism.
