Plot summary
A body snatcher carries a corpse to Baron Victor Frankenstein's secret laboratory, and a priest learns of the theft. The child names the body snatcher and the man who hired him, and the baron and his assistant Hans must leave town. They travel to Karlstaad, the baron's hometown, meaning to sell what remains in his family's abandoned chateau and pay for new work. In the village they rescue a young deaf-mute woman named Rena from a gang of thugs. The chateau has been stripped of its valuables, and the two men flee. In a pub the baron sees the burgomaster wearing one of his rings, makes a scene, and is recognized. He flees and takes cover at the exhibit of Zoltan, a hypnotist, whose clash with the police and arrest cover the escape.
