The Drudgery Train (2012) on Netflix

Plot summary

In 1986, Kanta Kitamachi is nineteen and has worked as a day laborer since he finished junior high school, after his family broke apart over a sex crime his father committed. He lives from one day to the next, reading is his only pleasure, and most of what he earns goes on alcohol and sex; rent is not something he thinks about. Then Shoji Kusakabe, a vocational school student, strikes up a conversation with him on the shuttle bus to a temporary job, and Kanta has a friend for the first time. He has long had a crush on Yasuko Sakurai, who works part time at a used bookstore, and through Shoji the two become friends. He has known girls only through sex and has no idea how to go about a relationship.
