Plot summary
Chance Marquis is sixteen, flamboyant and gay, and he has just arrived at an international high school in 1980s Europe. He arrives at the school in a top hat and tails, and the resident bully makes him a target. For help he turns to two people at opposite ends of the school. He joins the school newspaper and gets to know an introverted photographer who carries a mysterious briefcase. On the tennis court he makes friends with a catty fashionista, and the two serve as his wingmen. He also meets Levi Sparks, the varsity jock, and the tentative friendship between them has to withstand Levi's cacophonous group of friends.
