The Crime of Doctor Crespi (1935) on Netflix

Plot summary

Dr. Andre Crespi and Dr. Stephen Ross are colleagues at the same hospital, and Crespi has never forgiven Ross for marrying Estelle, the woman Crespi once loved. Crespi's own serum brings on a catatonic state in anyone it is injected into. When Ross must undergo surgery, Crespi sees his chance. He gives his colleague the drug, and the body of the man on the table looks like a body from which life has gone, though the senses remain awake. The doctors around the table believe Ross has died. Ross is buried, and Crespi watches the burial of the enemy he has put in the ground while that man is still conscious.
