Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Cosmonaut (2013)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- A week before shooting, the co-producer withdrew, so the team launched an emergency appeal to its community: more than 600 people gave €131,000 in three days, beating all world crowdfunding records for such a short period, and the film was shot.
- Inspired by projects such as A Swarm of Angels and Artemis Eternal, The Cosmonaut became the first Spanish feature film to be financed through crowdfunding.
- The project's director and writer, Nicolás Alcalá, caused a PR backlash when he publicly mocked a job applicant's email, replying: "If you are a fishmonger, tell us, we have a job for you."
- The idea came from conversations between Nicolás Alcalá and Bruno Teixidor about conspiracies, Lost Cosmonauts theories and the Soviet space program, and from Henry Pierrot's poetry book Poetics for Cosmonauts, after which the script evolved into its current form.
