Plot summary
Wayne Hayes and his wife Eileen have raised two children and built a business from nothing in a wealthy Pittsburgh suburb; Wayne is looking forward to retirement. Then Arnold Mack, a man who once worked for him, kidnaps him in broad daylight and holds him in a remote forest. Eileen learns what has happened and turns to the FBI for help in getting him back, her home filling with federal agents who examine the couple's life as the negotiations go on. Kept in the woods, Wayne bargains with the man holding him while Eileen, at home, works through the agents for the same end.
