Plot summary
Vanessa Turner works in an emergency room in Los Angeles, and this Christmas she comes back to her hometown of Greenwood for the first time in years. Her father, Bruce Turner, has decided to retire and shut his general practice by Christmas. Her teenage brother Kyle has been helping there as the receptionist. Vanessa insists on helping out as a doctor while she is home, and the small pleasures of the town and her patients begin to draw her in. She reunites with her high school sweetheart there. She also offers Kyle advice about Shelly, a classmate he likes, and that advice tends to go wrong. She has to choose before Christmas between a promotion in Los Angeles and staying in Greenwood.
