Plot summary

Sofia is fourteen and in love with Ulises. His family earns its living from a prostitution ring, and it is preparing him to draw girls into that business. Sofia becomes one of them, the first girl he has loved. He tries to keep her out of it and does not succeed. His father offers a trade: the family will release Sofia if Ulises brings in another girl to take her spot in the brothel. Sofia stays in their hands while he goes looking.
