Plot summary
Nick and Lori elope and spend their honeymoon at the Grand Canyon, where they arrange a mule ride down into the gorge with a guide named Henry. The next day the three of them descend into the canyon. After they have traveled a while, Henry proposes a side trip to see petroglyphs half a day's ride away. Lori is reluctant, and Nick argues for the longer route until she agrees. On the ride out, rattlesnakes bite Henry twice and the mules bolt, leaving the two of them and the injured guide to make camp deep in the canyon and start back on foot the next day.
