Plot summary
Mark turns up at Alex's door with a bullet in his arm and asks for help. He refuses a hospital, wary of his criminal ties and of the police questions that would follow, so Alex takes the bullet out himself, and Mark recovers. Days later Alex drives his wife Vera and their children, Kir and Eva, to the countryside house where he grew up. There Vera tells him she is pregnant, and that the child is not his. The distance between the couple grows while they hide it from the children and from the friends who come to visit, and Alex is unsure what to do.
