Maria Bonnevie

Maria Bonnevie is a Swedish-Norwegian actress who began her screen career as a teenager in 1991 in Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's The White Viking and trained at the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting, finishing in 1997. Born in Västerås to actor parents and raised in Oslo, she made her stage debut at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in 1995 in Ingmar Bergman's production of Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy, and her breakthrough came in Bille August's Jerusalem. Her performance in I Am Dina (2002) brought acclaim, an Amanda Award for Best Actress and a best foreign actress prize at the Montreal International Film Festival, plus Bodil and Robert nominations. Later credits include The Banishment (2007), Belle du Seigneur (2012), Becoming Astrid (2018), which earned her a Guldbagge Award nomination for supporting actress, and the Academy Award-winning Another Round (2020), for which she received a Robert Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She has been in the Royal Dramatic Theatre's ensemble since 1998.
