Trailer

Plot summary

Max invites his father Vladimir to Moscow for the old man's seventieth birthday, but Vladimir cancels the trip at the last moment. Max sets out for his father's house with his wife Irina, who is unwilling, and their two children, Dima and Nastya. Along the route the couple argue about how they raise the children, and the journey stirs memories of Max's boyhood in the post-Soviet 1990s. Vladimir was a stern, unyielding parent who showed affection in tough ways, teaching his son to read from political newspapers and to count with gravestones.
