Plot summary
Oppenheimer Park sits in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, and the First Nations people who occupy it treat the ground as ancestral land. Some of them live away from the reserves, and over a summer they rest, play, perform and protest there while the city and the law press on the space they hold. They join in the making of the film, and ordinary days take on the shape of a ceremony. Their performances mock the stereotypes outsiders attach to them, and they tease the people filming them. The filming runs over two years, and the film borrows from Western genre tropes.
