Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Capture the Flag (2015)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Paramount Pictures distributed Capture the Flag worldwide, a milestone for Spanish cinema: the first time a major Hollywood studio acquired and agreed to distribute two Spanish animated films worldwide at once, the other being Tad the Lost Explorer and the Secret of King Midas.
- Capture the Flag's premiere at Houston's NASA center made it the first international film and the first animated film ever screened in the NASA theater.
- Every ten seconds of finished animation took a week of work, and the film was built with a digital mix of Adobe After Effects, Autodesk Maya, Mental Ray, Nuke and ZBrush.
- Character designs were parodies of real and animated figures: villain Richard Carson was modelled on Richard Branson, his assistants Bill Gags and Steve Gigs on Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, and the Goldwings' Samantha and Tess on Mrs. Incredible and Boo.
- The Lightbox team visited NASA's centers in Houston and Cape Canaveral for visual reference, guided by astronaut Michael López-Alegría and advised by veteran astronaut Alan Bean, the fourth man to walk on the Moon.
- Director Enrique Gato said the hardest character to animate was Frank, the grandfather, because he wanted him to have Clint Eastwood's acting manner, conveying emotion without moving a muscle in his face.
- Although it was released first in Spain, Capture the Flag was animated to match its English voice cast first and only then dubbed into Spanish and Catalan in post-production.
