Plot summary
At the newspaper where Paula "Peril" Perillo works, her partner, Jimmy Smith, and the editor, Slim Jackson, are waiting on a story that has not come in. Paula is in an abandoned warehouse, held by five thugs in the pay of the corrupt mobster Vince Vincelli, bound and pressed for information. Her rival at the paper, Veronica Vilancourt, is ready to take the headline for herself. With a deadline that night, Jimmy and Slim go back over the cases Jimmy and Paula worked together, among them a stolen artifact and a case of supernatural power, looking for anything that points to where she is.
