Plot summary
Mark Twain has lost patience with the human race, and he pilots an airship toward Halley's Comet, resolved to meet it. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn sneak aboard, hoping to become famous aeronauts, and Becky Thatcher follows them. The balloon lifts off and the stowaways are discovered, though Twain already knows who they are. The three find a device inside the vessel that opens into any part of the ship or into Twain's writing, and they learn where the voyage is headed.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Adventures of Mark Twain (1985)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Mark Twain said it would be the greatest disappointment of his life if he did not go out with Halley's Comet, calling himself and the comet two unaccountable freaks who came in together and must go out together. He died on April 21, 1910, one day after the comet reached perihelion.
- Gary McRobert developed a new computerized motion system to replace the old wooden hand-cranked method, and Sam Longoria built a system in which a computer drove motors that moved lenses, cameras or background elements between frames; low-intensity lamps with long exposure times kept the clay from melting.
- The film was shot in a converted house with a barbershop in front of it, which the crew called the Barbershop Studio: the bedrooms were editing rooms and offices, and the high-ceiling basement where the animators and sculptors worked connected to a four thousand square foot studio built at the back.
