Plot summary
At a Paris museum, thieves seize a statuette that came from the Amazon, and they drive away with the curator, Professor Catalan. Catalan had gone into the rainforest with the father of Agnès Villermosa, who died on that journey, and he thought the figure one of three that point to a hidden treasure. Adrien Dufourquet, an airman with eight days of leave, arrives to see his fiancée, Agnès, and reaches her flat as the thieves take her away; he follows them to the airport and boards their plane.
