Plot summary
Pallavi studies in Chennai and wants to dance for her family, though she lacks the talent. Karthik, a statistics student supported by his godfather Duraisamy, needs money for a doctorate, so he takes her fee and teaches her. They fall in love. When her family begins arranging her marriage, she asks him to elope; he reconsiders and leaves for a Ph.D. in New Delhi instead. Pallavi ignores his calls and marries Arun. A year later, on her wedding anniversary, Duraisamy tells her Karthik is drinking and close to losing his job in Los Angeles. She goes to meet him and says she is happily married. He disagrees, so she invites him to stay with her and Arun for ten days to prove it, on his condition that if he sees no love between them, she must leave with him.
