Plot summary
Summer vacation takes two college students, Leslie and Janna, to Janna's family cabin near Lake Tenkiller in rural Oklahoma, where a number of murders have been reported. Leslie would rather have stayed home, but the trip gives her room from Josh, her controlling fiancé, who calls her often. At the Cove, a diner run by Charlie, the two take part-time waitressing shifts. A marina worker named Tor notices Leslie there and gets to know both women.

- The dialogue in Terror at Tenkiller was entirely dubbed in post-production because locusts and cicadas at the Oklahoma shooting locations made the recorded sound unusable. Actresses Stacey Logan and Michelle Merchant were dubbed by other voice actresses and did not learn of it until after the film's release.
- United Entertainment Pictures, which had previously produced and released Blood Cult (1985), financed Terror at Tenkiller with a budget of approximately $40,000 and mandated that the shoot take place within two weeks.
