Plot summary
Wealthy construction contractor Charlie LeBlanc, in New Orleans, is struggling with thoughts of his own mortality, and wants to learn whether his wife, Lilly, a former model thirty years his junior, will stay faithful. With his henchman Dot Collins, he visits a construction site and offers Jimmy Mulate, a freelance carpenter, ten thousand dollars to seduce Lilly, fifty thousand more if he succeeds and another forty thousand if he can accurately describe her tattoo. Jimmy hesitates, then agrees when his friend Ted urges him to accept, since the money could cover law school. Charlie tells Lilly he will be away for a week on business and that Jimmy will come to repair a broken door. He asks the private investigator Byron Blades to keep watch on Lilly and Jimmy, and Blades sets up cameras and microphones in the mansion.
