Plot summary
Hank Thompson is stranded on a deserted island and is about to hang himself when a corpse washes up on the beach. He tries to revive it, but the body only responds with flatulence. When the tide begins to pull the corpse out, its flatulence propels it across the water, so Hank ties a rope around its mouth and rides it to a mainland shore, still far from civilization. They take shelter from a rainstorm in a cave, and runoff pours into the corpse's mouth; the next morning Hank discovers the body can produce drinkable water. The corpse starts to speak and adopts the name Manny. Manny has no memory of his former life, and Hank teaches him about the world. Hank uses Manny's erections, triggered by a swimsuit magazine, as a compass.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Swiss Army Man (2016)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan first pitched Swiss Army Man as a joke in Hollywood meetings, until someone asked them why they did not just make it. They drafted several versions and submitted one to Sundance Labs in 2013, attending the following year.
- The music was written before a frame was shot so it could be played aloud during filming. Daniel Radcliffe said the composing was done before the shoot started, which never happens in film, and that the cast could hear the music on set for certain scenes.
- Part of the audience walked out of the world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, alienated by the film's bizarre premise of a stranded man and a flatulent corpse.
