  • As Hannah and Mike experience engaged life while balancing their busy careers, a murder at a 24-hour gym complicates their wedding planning.

  • Hannah and Mike's relationship has moved to the next level in they now being engaged, but still at an uncertain stage in they not yet having really talked about the wedding let alone their future together. For Mike, that uncertainty also includes he needing to let go of being self-sufficient in all aspects of life. For Hannah, what may be the most awkward issue is her relationship with Norman, he still her friend and dentist if nothing else regardless of she not having chosen him. That relationship may become exponentially more uncomfortable if she ever does read her mother's just published first novel set in the Regency era, Delores never shy about preferring stable and safe Norman as a partner for Hannah over Mike. Regardless, Hannah is both hosting a book reading at the bakery and catering the subsequent book launch party/Regency costume gala, Hannah's other sister, photojournalist Michelle, who is returning home for the occasion. The issues in Hannah and Mike's lives provide a backdrop for yet the latest dead body, seemingly murdered, Hannah stumbles upon, this time in the fitness center, otherwise empty with the exception of the security guard, Tad, who was making the rounds at another section of the property at the time of Hannah's discovery. Due to being short staffed, Sheriff Metzger calls in Agent Stella Parks of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to assist Mike in the case. While the victim could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time in a rash of thefts recently having occurred throughout Lake Eden, one previously at the gym, Mike and Agent Parks are working on the probability that the victim was targeted as she, recently moved to town, evoked strong reactions from those who knew her, one in particular, Jacqueline Grant, who Hannah saw having an altercation with in the bakery. Beyond the official investigation, Hannah cannot help but follow the leads she discovers, which could get her into trouble, both with Agent Parks, and with the murderer if he/she believes Hannah is getting too close to the truth.
