Plot summary
Rokeya Hossain published the short story Sultana's Dream in 1905, and in it she imagined Ladyland, a utopian land of women. Inés is a Spanish artist who lives in Bangladesh, and she sets out to find out who Hossain was. She travels throughout the country to follow the author's life and work, and she goes looking for the land Hossain described. The film takes its title from Rokeya Hossain's 1905 story. The telling is split into three parts, each with its own animation technique: ink and watercolor for Inés, shadow puppets for the life of Rokeya Hossain, and mendhi for Ladyland.
