Plot summary
Mitch Palmer shares a prison cell with Harry Katish, Peter Thompson and Jack Ulrich. One night the four men play poker for cigarettes, trading stories of the lives they had before they were locked up. Mitch wins the cigarettes of all three, and they press him into one more game. He puts his whole bag on the table against a forfeit: whoever loses eats a full tube of toothpaste. Mitch loses. He refuses to honor the bet, and the others keep asking him to keep his word. Harry, in prison for armed robbery, wraps a bar of soap in a towel. Jack, there for arson, and Peter, who deals drugs, hold Mitch down while the tube is emptied into his mouth.

According to director Uwe Boll, Stoic centers on a true 2006 incident at Siegburg prison where three prisoners raped, tortured and forced their cellmate to commit suicide over ten hours, starting with a poker bet over eating a tube of toothpaste.- Stoic was based on a treatment by director Uwe Boll, and the dialogue in the film was almost entirely improvised by the actors.
