Plot summary
Paula Martin has published a bestseller and goes to Crow's Hall, the gothic country house her family owns, to write her next book in seclusion. The pages will not come: she is blocked, and the nightmares of her abusive childhood return at night. She takes on an assistant, Linda, whose arrival is meant to take some of the pressure off her. Linda gives her comfort and support as the nightmares persist, and she lets Paula sleep in her bed.
