Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Spun (2002)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Screenwriter William De Los Santos based the film's screenplay, and its main character Ross, on his own life; he had once planned a documentary about Eugene, Oregon meth cooks before becoming an addict himself.
- Brittany Murphy learned to pole dance in just two hours at a Los Angeles strip club to prepare for playing Nikki, bruising herself in the process, and the club's owner offered her a job without knowing who she was.
- While in rehab, De Los Santos made a list of film producers to approach in Los Angeles, then landed the film's backing after sneaking into a party where he met producer Chris Hanley of Muse Films.
- When director Jonas Åkerlund could not start because of scheduling conflicts, an impatient De Los Santos contacted him through the internet and convinced him to read the script and direct the film.
- The film's scene of a woman left tied to a bed for hours really happened to De Los Santos, though in real life he left her for only three hours rather than as depicted on screen.
