Plot summary
Middle school friends Jake, Bo and Carson are quarreling over Halloween plans. Jake, whose father died of bone cancer, wants the trick-or-treating nights they always shared; Carson wants something less childish, and Bo agrees with him. The three go to a new Spirit Halloween pop-up store in a deserted strip mall, where Carson suggests they hide and spend the night locked inside. As they play with the merchandise, a threatening animatronic figure comes to life. Carson's sister Kate sets out to find the boys and bring Carson his phone; photos on Jake's Instagram account tell her they are in the store.
