Plot summary
Robert Eads is a transgender man. He is diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and doctor after doctor declines to treat him, each one worried that taking him as a patient would damage a reputation. Lola Cola, a transgender woman, is his partner and the person who looks after him. He spends his time with the friends he thinks of as his chosen family, Maxwell Scott Anderson and Cas Piotrowski among them. He and Lola plan to speak on a panel at the Southern Comfort conference, a yearly gathering for transgender people.
