Plot summary
Peter Potter Jr., fresh out of Harvard, drives into the town of Sawbuck Pass in a jalopy and a striped blazer to claim the fortune his father left. He arrives splashing mud over the townspeople, then learns that nearly everyone in town says his father owed them money. The treasure chest is empty. An old-timer named Eb tells him the gold is real but hidden somewhere. In the saloon, Junior meets Roy, a singing cowboy, and Mike, a performer who fends off his persistent advances, and he keeps talking up his wealth to stall the people waiting to be paid.
